Friends and Family –
We’re less than a week out and getting so excited to see you all in Lake Tahoe. Below is some information we thought would be helpful as you all prepare to pack up and come join us in the mountains!
This epic email includes information on the events, what to pack for Tahoe weather, coordinating with other guests on rides and childcare and fun Tahoe activities, as well as a few other final notes. Note: more detailed shuttle information for Friday and Saturday nights will be shared shortly.
We’ll also be posting this information on the website and on the newly created Facebook group that you have all been invited to. But if we’re missing anything or you just want to be in touch, feel free to call or email us!
Much love,

Schedule of Events
Below is a reminder on the events Thursday through Friday, including time, location, attire, and other important details. We are arriving on Tuesday afternoon, so if you get to Tahoe earlier, give us a call – we’re bound to be up to something fun and would love to have you join us!
Thursday evening hangout at Bar of America in Old Truckee (6:30pm onwards)
· Location: Bar of America at 10040 Donner Pass Road, Truckee, CA 96161
o Bar of America is about 15 minutes from Northstar, taxis can be hard to find and expensive and sadly no Uber in Tahoe yet, so we recommend carpooling
· Attire: Anything you want!
· Details:
o We strongly encourage everyone to arrive in Tahoe by Thursday night if at all possible.
o We will be gathering at the Bar of America in historic downtown Truckee from 6:30 pmonwards for a casual, no-host evening. They have a great bar, a broad menu and will have a live band going until 9 or 10.
Friday Wedding at West Shore Café (4pm):
· Location: West Shore Café at 5160 W Lake Blvd, Homewood, CA 96141
o Shuttle service is provided from Northstar starting at approximately 2:30pmat the Northstar Transportation Center at 3001 Northstar Drive in Truckee (we’ll send out more shuttle details by email later this week, once schedule is finalized) – the last shuttle will be leaving at approximately 3:15pm.
o There is very limited parking at West Shore Café, so we highly recommend taking the shuttle – taxis are rare and expensive in the mountains!
o It can take as long as 40 minutes to get to the wedding venue from Northstar, so please plan accordingly.
· Attire:
o “Black Tie Optional” is truly optional. Guests will be wearing a mix of tuxedos and suits, long dresses and cocktail dresses. You’ll be a fantastic-looking crew in whatever you don!
o For the ladies, we recommend you do not wear heels, since we’ll be walking on a mix of grass and a wooden deck.
o This is a rain or shine event - we are prepared for every kind of weather (yay for heat lamps and tents!), and we want to make sure you are too! Bring something warm, a jacket, and maybe even something for the sun (fingers crossed)…
· Details:
o Our wedding starts at 4pm sharp at the West Shore Café in Homewood, CA
o For anyone in the Bay Area who is not able to drive up until Friday morning, we highly encourage you to leave the city by 9am at the latest in order to make sure you have time check-in to your hotel, get ready and then catch a shuttle from Northstar to the West Shore Café. Traffic to and around Lake Tahoe is really unpredictable and we expect there to be some weather on Friday that will potentially slow things down further.
o The band plays until 10pm, but we will be celebrating at the bar until 11pm. Stay as long as you like! Return shuttles will be available all night.
Saturday “One Day Anniversary Party” at Lahontan Lodge (5pm):
· Location: Lahontan Lodge at 12700 Lodgetrail Drive; Truckee, CA, 96161
o We will have shuttles from the Northstar Transportation Center (same location as Friday) to Lahontan starting approximately 4:15pm until 4:45pm.
o Lahontan is about 15 minutes from Northstar by car if you choose to drive; there is valet parking at Lahontan. Once you reach the Lahontan gate house, let the attendant know you are heading to the George / Buda event at the lodge and they can direct you.
· Attire: Mountain Spiffy. What the heck does that mean? Whatever you want it to! The bride is wearing a casual dress and cowboy boots (that she bought the weekend she met Brad in Jackson Hole, WY). The groom is wearing jeans, a blazer, and a shirt. Be sure to bring a jacket as there will be a mix of indoor and outdoor activities at the lodge (band is outdoors).
· Details:
o Even though it says 5:30pm on the website, we will likely start this event a bit earlier as we’ve learned there are a few surprises planned this evening that we need to make time for(exciting!) – we’ll send out an update, but please plan to arrive at 5pm and no later than 530pm, if possible.
o Basic plan for this night is cocktails, lawn games, a surprise emceed by our dear friend Dan Levy, a buffet dinner and open seating, followed by a live band and dancing. The band plays until 10pm, the fun can continue as long past that as we like!
Packing for weather
Tahoe is beautiful in any weather, but is much more enjoyable if you have the right clothes for whatever Mother Nature throws at us! Right now the weather report is playing games with us, so we really recommend you pack for all four seasons, including:
· Sun: Sunglasses, sunscreen, hat (Tahoe sun can be very intense)
· Rain: A waterproof jacket, comfy / rainproof shoes
· Cold: Bring layers. There can be a huge difference in temperature between day and night; even if it’s 80 degrees and sunny at 2pm, it will be 40 when the sun goes down.
Coordinating with other guests (rides, childcare)
· Facebook group: We’ve created a Facebook group called “KC and Brad’s wedding” for everyone to use to coordinate rides, childcare and activities while in Tahoe. You should all have received an invite, but here is a link as well: https://www.facebook.com/groups/kcandbrad/.
· Rides: We know that many of you are driving in from the Bay Area. If you are still looking for a ride, or if you have an extra seat in your car and you want to make some new friends, please either email us or introduce yourself to the Facebook group and let people know when you are planning to come and go. Please help us make it easy for people to get back and forth from the city!
· Childcare: Just a reminder that we have recommended childcare options on the website. Also, if you have children and are looking for babysitting at any point during the trip, email us or make a post to the Facebook group as well; you may be able to find someone to share a sitter with. And remember that Saturday’s event at Lahontan is family-friendly!
o For example: My best friend and wedding officiant, Chien-Wen is arranging a babysitter from 2pm to 1am on Friday for her 14 month old Connor. Would anyone like to get in on that?
· Activities: We have updated the website with information on a variety of our favorite Tahoe activities. We encourage everyone to take advantage of the outdoor beauty that Tahoe has to offer – from hiking to biking to spending time at the lake, it’s a truly special place that we’re so excited to share with all of you.
Other notes
· Hotel check-ins: We heard some people were getting late check-in options from Northstar. We’ve confirmed with them that earlier check-in is available on Friday – please just call them to request and let them know that you are a part of the George / Buda Wedding party. Let us know if you have any other issues!
· Dietary restrictions: Email us if you have any dietary restrictions and we will do our best to make sure the venues accommodate you on Friday and Saturday night.
